Fall/Winter Workshop Offerings

I have teamed up with The Livingston Arts Center to offer four workshops this October through December. I visited the facilities and gallery this summer while attending Needles at Noon, and I have to say Mount Morris has a little artsy gem!

You can register for any classes at LAC online. I'm excited to offer some of the fiber skills that I don't get a chance to teach at the high school and an Etsy 101 workshop :) Here are the courses I'm teaching:

Nuno Felt an Original Scarf
Carol Traynor
October 15 & 22
Saturday, 11am – 12:30pm
Create a beautiful, warm felted scarf just in time for chilly weather! Nuno felting is a technique where wool roving and gauzy silk chiffon become one, through a wet felting process. Wonderful color mixtures and textures result. The first class will focus on wet techniques and the second on embellishing and finishing off your scarf. No experience is required. A packet of information to continue beyond class will be provided. Minimum 3 Maximum 8.
$50. Supplies included.

Etsy 101: For Beginnners
Carol Traynor
November 19
Saturday, 10am - 12pm
Want to try out Etsy, but don't know where to begin? Have a leader of the Rochester Etsy team get you started! Etsy is an online marketplace for selling all things handmade. The basics of opening an Etsy shop and navigating the online site will be introduced. Fun marketing exercises and examples of Do's & Don't will get you on your way to beginning a successful shop. Instructions and handouts will be provided for use after the workshop. Participants may want to bring a laptop. Minimum 3 Maximum 10.

Rust Oxide Printing on Silk
Carol Traynor
December 3 & 10
Saturday, 11am - 12pm
In this eco-friendly class, rusty objects are re-used to create stunning surface designs on silk. Learn how to wrap silk and rusted objects to create patterned designs and make your own batch of rust paste to apply designs like paint. Students will leave with a one of a kind silk scarf, and a variety of experiments that can be used in other projects. No experience required. Handouts provided.. Minimum 3 Maximum 8.
$40. Supplies included.

Little Bit of Lovin'

Hello Buenahelena customers and friends! I will be selling my wares this weekend at Lovapalooza up at the Park Point Campus of RIT. The only bummer is that I can't do both days. It's Sunday only for me. I highly recommend checking out both days of music, fun, food and art, but if you have to choose....come visit ME. Haha! The event is put on by Lovin' Cup, one of my favorite places to get a great beer and sandwiches, so please come out and support.

Artists will be selling their wares from 11-4 on Sunday

New work (below) will be offered including: Matchstick Paintings and more Cocktail Napkin Coaster sets with fresh vintage designs.

It's back to school season. Do you know where your Lisa Frank is?

Raise your hand if Lisa Frank made (and still makes) all of your fall-school-shopping dreams comes true! I get to go back to school each year as a teacher now, but when I see those folders full of rainbow mcawesome, I wish I was still a student.

Who is the real Lisa Frank though? Have you ever wondered? I know I do. The folks from Upright Citizens Brigade Theater took a wild stab at it recently in a documentary spoof. Watch it now. The best line from the video happens when Lisa decides not to make a deal with Trapper Keeper, and declares " No one's trappin' me and no one's keepin' me!" Classic!
