Onto new adventures :)

Today I turn 30. My life has brought me to three states, Ohio, New York (again), and now Pennsylvania. In a single year, I moved, changed jobs, and got married. As I head into another decade of life it's time to let some things from my twenties go.

#1:  I am letting go of desperately trying to figure out who I am meant to be, where I am meant to be, and how I am meant to be. I always was and still am.

#2: I am letting go of the idea that being a teacher and being an artist are two different things, and trying to be both of these two allegedly different things. Teaching is my art right now. My students are my material. One day when I no longer do that, I will surely pick up another material, another art.

#3: I am giving up Buenahelena. My Etsy shop was started out of desperation to make money, during grad school. It has made me a little (very little) money. I clung on to keep my identity as an artist alive, but truth be told, the items I made for Etsy were made for sale, not for soul.

#4 I am letting go of the blog as well. It will stay here as an archive of this period in my life, and hopefully as inspiration for others like me.

Buenahelena has been a fun part of my life. The greatest return on this venture has been the arting/crafting/making/shaking people I have met, including the Rochester NY Etsy Street Team, and the customers I have brought some smiles to. Learning to build a blog was SO valuable as well. If you have been following my blog or just stopping by over the past 3 years, thank you. Until then...

Arrivederci  Baby(s)! See you in the promised land! ;)

  1. Awe!!! So sad to see you go. I wish you the very best in all of your future endeavors.

I'm sure art will seep into many aspects of your life, because you are a creative person, that's just the way it is.

You dont have to necessarily be an artist to be an artist. (if that makes any sense)

    Well, anyways, good luck!!
